The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a driver, Paul Ortema, for allegedly stealing his employer’s Toyota Hilux pickup van.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, in a statement on Thursday, said Ortema was arrested while trying to sell off the vehicle for N20 million.
He also said Ortema’s accomplices, his guarantor, Lorfa Paul, and a tracker, Ojo Solomon, were arrested during the operation.
Hundeyin said, “Detectives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested a driver, Ortema Paul, 41, within the Ojodu area of Lagos while on his way to sell off his employer’s 2021 Toyota Hilux pickup van for N20 miilion.
“The suspect was arrested on August 9, 2022 alongside his guarantor, Lorfa Paul, 40, and Ojo Solomon, 29, who was contracted to locate and disable the tracker in the vehicle.
“The arrest followed the launching of a swift investigation into the matter immediately a report of the stealing was received. Suspects will be arraigned at the end of investigation.”
He said the state Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alabi, assured residents that the command would continue to work towards the decimation of crime and criminality in the state.
