Unchained Vibes Africa and Lakreem Entertainment have announced that they will host a colloquium in honour of veteran rapper, Eedris Abdulkareem, who is currently battling a kidney ailment.
The event, tagged ‘Freedom Vibes 6.0 – Eedris Abdulkareem Colloquium’, is slated for today, August 13, 2022, at the Freedom Park, Lagos Island, Lagos.
At a press conference held during the week, the Executive Producer, UVA, Ayodele Ganiu, emphasised on the need to rally round Eedris, saying that he had paved the way for other Nigerian artistes.
Highlighting the objectives of the colloquium, Ganiu said it will sensitise the general public on the role of artists in a democracy and mobilise the creative community to become more active in civic engagements.
He said, “The event will sensitise the public on how music can effectively carry critical advocacy messages and raise awareness about social and political issues in a way that traditional advocacy cannot.
“Using an audiovisual presentation and dissecting the music of Eedris, the colloquium will showcase the common presence of music in people’s lives and its power to condense feelings and ideas into small units of time which can easily be accessible to an average person.”
Representing Lakreem Entertainment, Myke Pam urged bigwigs in the entertainment industry to attend the event, while maintaining that Eedris would never go about cap-in-hand to seek financial aid.
