Super Eagles midfielder, Oghenekaro Etebo, could make a return to the Spanish League after Getafe and Real Valladolid showed interest in him.
The 26-year-old, who currently plays for English Championship side, Stoke City, has just one year left on his current contract with the Potters.
He has also been linked with a move to Galatasaray.
According to amp.sport.es, Getafe are said to be highly interested in the Nigerian’s services, though they have Real Valladolid to contend with.
“Real Valladolid face competition for the signing of Etebo from Getafe. The Nigerian is desperate to leave Stoke,” the report stated.
The 26-year-old joined Stoke City in 2018 and was previously loaned to Getafe in 2020, before he was again loaned to Watford last season.
Etebo is one of Stoke City’s highest-paid players in the Championship and the club is desperate to take him off their budget, which has fallen considerably, according to Stoke City manager Michael O’Neil.
Speaking on Etebo’s future, O’Neil said, “I think we know that those players (Benik Afobe and Etebo) are obviously looking for an exit and that exit is at the point where both players are in the last year of their contracts, so it’s probably more realistic than any point it’s been, “O’Neil told Stoke Sentinel.
“Both came here and signed very good contracts.
“In Peter’s (Etebo) case, it’s two-and-a-half years on various loans. I think when it gets to that stage, in a player’s mind he’s already left the club even though he’s still contracted.
“We’ve got to find the best situation for us as a club but equally the players have to find the best situation for themselves as well. That’s an ongoing process. We’ve been through it before, I think in every window, but for us in terms of what we call the legacy contracts at the club, we’re in the last 12 months of that now.”
