The Lagos State Government has sensitised staff members of the Lagos State Drivers’ Institute to the importance of safety consciousness and proficiency in road use by drivers.
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Transportation, Mr Kamar Olowoshago, stated this on Saturday during the annual ‘Train-the-trainer,’ workshop organised for the LASDRI workforce in Oshodi.
He said, “I would enjoin you all to see your training as a golden opportunity to acquire more knowledge and skills as trainers and it is high time every one of us moved from a fixed mindset to a growth mindset that teaches positive attitude, discipline and contentment.
“This year’s train-the-trainers workshop will expose the participants to a more acceptable practice aimed at inculcating safety consciousness, embracing modern Information Communication Technology, thereby improving proficiency in safe road use. It will also help them deliver engaging and compelling workshops that will improve the service platform of the LASDRI.”
In her address, the General Manager of LASDRI, Mrs Afusat Tiamiyu, noted that the training will provide an opportunity for public transportation to be redefined in the state.
“The participants should see today’s event as a think-tank meet to chart a new course of action for public transportation and evolve a way of instilling discipline, good driving culture, and sanity to our teeming motoring public.
“This training will give the entire LASDRI workforce the avenue to engage one another and brainstorm on ideas and plans that are aimed at redefining public transportation in Lagos State,” she said.
