Men of the Quick Response Squad, Delta State Police Command, have arrested three suspected cultists while a locally made cut-to-size gun and four live cartridges were recovered from the hoodlums.
PUNCH Metro gathered that the arrest was effected on August 5, 2022, at about 1: 45 pm during a stop and search duty along Pessu Corner in Warri, when the officials intercepted a tricycle with three occupants.
In a statement on Wednesday, the police stated that, upon searching the occupants, one locally made cut-to-size gun and four live cartridges were recovered from them.
The three suspects namely; Chukwuma Owoh ‘m’ aged 26 years, Ediri Ogendengbe ‘m’ aged 32 years, and Alfred Kess ‘m’ age 38 years were immediately arrested by the policemen.
One of the suspects, Chukwuma Owoh, confessed that he bought the gun from one Haruna of Hausa market Warri, and that he was on his way to Pessu in search of some Aiye Confraternity cult members that attacked his younger sister.
“The suspects are currently in custody and investigation is ongoing,” the statement added.
Commenting on the arrest, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Muhammed Ali, urged officers and men of the Command to sustain the tempo.
He also admonished them to be polite and civil to members of the public while on duty saying that incivility to members of the public would not be tolerated under his watch.
