Nigeria international Emmanuel Dennis has been officially handed the No.25 jersey after completing a switch to newly promoted English Premier League club Nottingham Forest on Saturday in a club record £20m move, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
The striker’s signing was announced last weekend after completing the move from relegated Watford.
Forest completed three new signings over the weekend and have allocated jersey numbers to each player.
On the club’s official website, it was stated that Dennis would wear the No.25 jersey – the same number he wore at Watford last season.
“Squad numbers for recent new signings Emmanuel Dennis, Remo Freuler and Cheikhou Kouyaté have been confirmed for the 2022/23 campaign,” the club wrote.
“After arriving from Watford on Saturday evening, Nigeria international Dennis will wear squad number 25.
“Switzerland international Freuler put pen-to-paper on Trentside on Sunday after signing from Atalanta, with the midfielder wearing number 23.
“Senegal international Kouyaté signed a two-year contract at The City Ground and will wear number 21.”
The 25-year-old Dennis is expected to strengthen the Reds’ attack and will play alongside compatriot Taiwo Awoniyi, who also recently joined the Premier League newcomers from Union Berlin.
Dennis has also been confirmed available for this weekend’s clash with Everton, who are without a point this season, in contrast to Forest, who have lost one and won one of their opening two games.
Forest manager Steve Cooper will hope the former Watford striker can replicate his last season’s form with the Hornets, when he scored 10 league goals with another six assists.
The Nigerian scored on his Premier League debut for Watford last season and he would hope to hit the ground running for his new employers on Saturday.
