The potential move for Midtjylland midfielder, Raphael Onyedika, to AC Milan looks stalled as club director Svend Graversen insists on keeping the 21-year-old at the club for one more season.
Reports say the Danish club Midtjylland have rejected an opening €4m bid for Onyedika as the club values him for at least €10m.
Negotiations have not progressed as expected because the Danish club have yet to appoint a new coach who approved his transfer.
Midtjylland are unwilling to sell the Nigeria international, as confirmed by their director Graversen.
“We want to keep Onyedika for one more season,” Graversen said, as quoted by Calciomercato.com.
Bo Henriksen was sacked last month and Midtjylland want to know the plans of their next boss with Onyedika before deciding on whether to agree to Milan’s demands or not.
The Rossoneri management has asked Midtjylland to lower their asking price for the midfielder, who joined the Danish club from Nigerian club FC Ebedei in 2019.
Since joining Midtjylland in 2021, Onyedika has become an integral part of the team and has already made eight appearances across all competitions in the 2022/23 season.
Onyedika has four years left on his contract at Midtjylland.
Onyedika impressed in his first full season in Midtjylland with the U-19 League and the UEFA Youth League with his physique and speed.
He signed his first five-year professional contract in July 2020.
Onyedika was loaned to Danish 1st Division-side FC Fredericia on August 19 2020 for the whole 2020-21 season, played 28 games and scored three goals.
Onyedika returned to Midtjylland in the summer of 2021 and was promoted to the first team squad. He got his official debut for Midtjylland against Odense Boldklub in the first game of the 2021/22 Danish Superliga.
