According to Turkish publication, Sporx, Galatasaray have made one last attempt at signing Nigerian forward Anthony Nwakaeme.
Nwakaeme has been without a club since leaving Trabzonspor at the end of last season following the expiration of his contract.
The 33-year-old became fans’ favourites after playing a major role in guiding the Black Sea Storm to their first Super Lig title in three decades.
The Nigerian forward was one of the most effective players in the Turkish elite division last season, contributing 13 goals and ten assists in 30 games.
Despite his popularity among the club faithful, the Super Lig champions were unwilling to meet the one-cap Super Eagles forward financial demands, forcing him to leave as a free agent.
Since becoming a free agent, Fernabache and Galatasaray have emerged as the leading candidates for his signature.
However, Galatasaray’s poor return in front of goal so far this season has forced the club to reignite their interest in Nwakaeme and is hoping to convince the striker to accept their offer to join the club.
Gala have not had a breakthrough in talks with Nwakaeme, despite repeated attempts to secure his signature and have therefore offered what is believed to be their last offer for the player.
“Galatasaray have offered a one plus one year contract for the successful player €1.1m a year,” the website wrote.
“If the Nwakaeme front accepts the last proposal and the management decides on the transfer of Nwakaeme, the star footballer will officially wear the Yellow-Red jersey. In case of a counter offer, the negotiations are expected to be concluded negatively.”
Nwakaeme, who joined Trabzonspor in 2018, was a key player of the club, making 145 appearances in all competitions and chipping in an impressive 47 goals and 40 assists.
