The meeting between the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, and the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, in London on Thursday has stirred reactions from citizens.
While some welcomed the meeting, others faulted the politicians for meeting outside the country.
A former presidential aide, Reno Omokri, who welcomed the meeting, noted that the party was taking the right step.
Omokri tweeted, “We are united! And Governor Wike is a much loved member of our party. Those expecting to see us splinter will wait until winter comes to Nigeria!”
“I welcome the reunion,” @josephbakari5 tweeted.
Another tweep, @mizcarzola1, said, “I love what I’m seeing but still not convinced until Governor Wike himself say it that he has reconciled with Atiku and no more issues.
“We have had enough of photo ops. However, this is a right step in the right direction. PDP!!! Power to the people!!! We move.”
Knocking the politicians for the meeting, @dennisdamennis6 tweeted, “London is now the meeting points of the vultures. Nigeria is no more secure for them.”
Another tweep, @mrtee_0, said, “Meetings in London to discuss how to govern Nigeria. Are locations in Kaduna, Zamfara, or Sambisa not okay?”
“The way these guys do reunion at will will tell you PDP and APC is the same and we must eradicate them next year. GOD spare our lives,” @bjo1477 said.
@dashingmadu said, “I love the way 2023 election is shaking people. Never has it happened or never have we had the kind of pressure and tension before an election.”
The PUNCH had reported that the rift between Atiku and Wike started after the governor’s ambition of becoming the party’s vice-presidential candidate for the 2023 general elections failed following the emergence of the Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, as Atiku’s running mate.
