The Ogun State governorship candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party, Olufemi Ajadi, has said that voting for the party at all levels would liberate Nigerians from the current challenges.
He added that with the current challenges, Nigerians have seen clearly that there is a need for the country to have the right people in leadership positions.
Ajadi stated this at the official unveiling of the NNPP gubernatorial candidate and his running mate, Popoola Joshua, and Alhaja Adesope Atinuke, respectively on Thursday at the Liberty Stadium, Ibadan, Oyo State.
He added with the leadership vacuum, NNPP had become a mainstream party that has entrenched itself in the minds of Nigerian electorates.
Ajadi said the party had been able to do this by its engaging campaigns and issues-based politics.
He said the party was gaining widespread notice because of its people-based manifesto and one empowerment initiative or the other.
“We have come into politics to rescue our people from the social mess the APC and PDP have put them into.
“By the grace of God, NNPP is taking over the entire political space of the country, our antecedents speaking for us,” he said.
Also speaking, Joshua said NNPP was ready to take over from Governor Seyi Makinde’s People’s Democratic Party-led administration in Oyo.
He said Oyo people want a new government and God would use him for good things in the state.
“We shall be as great as some people in developed countries. This is a critical time in our state when government and power must return to the people. So, it is time the entire city of the state experiences true democracy and government that works in their favour.
“We are determined to take our state to its rightful place as the pacesetter. The election is not just about us, it is more about the future of our children and our dear state because our people deserve better.”
On her part, Atinuke said all residents in every part of Oyo should expect a positive impact of democracy in every aspect of their lives.
“I have been officially announced today as the deputy governor to His Excellency Popoola Olukayode Joshua, I promise to work with the governor to execute civil rights when you vote us into the state in the 2023 general election,” she said.
The leader of the party, Alhaji Adebisi Olopoeyan, urged all the Oyo residents to vote for all NNPP gubernatorial candidate and the state Assembly; House of Representatives and the National Assembly candidates for good representation at the state and the national levels.
“We are known as talk-and-do politicians and I am assuring you that all our promises shall be fulfilled when we get to the office,” he said.
The Southwest Secretary of NNPP and Director General of the Olufemi Ajadi’s Campaign Committee, Tunde Oke, said the electorates in Oyo should not be scared of the ruling party, adding that what happened in Osun State would repeat itself in Oyo in favour of NNPP.
“We acknowledge the presence of the Hausa group; we are grateful for their total support for our candidate and we shall be pleased to work together when we assume office in 2023,” he said.
