…Kukah controversial but ready to sacrifice for Nigeria, says Tambuwal
The Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal, on Wednesday, described Bishop Matthew Kukah as a man with an undying love for the country.
Tambuwal, who is chairing Kukah’s ongoing 70th birthday celebration in Abuja, commended Kukah for his strong belief in the possibility of a new Nigeria.
The event was attended by key political actors for the 2023 elections, including the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu; his running mate, Kashim Shettima; the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi and many others.
Tambuwal said that although Kukah’s criticism of the the nation’s bad governance have been controversial, he (Kukah) believed Nigeria could and would come out of the doldrums of failed political leadership.
The governor, represented by a former governor of Imo State and former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, said Kukah’s love for a United Nigeria had remained unsurpassed.
“His (Kukah’s) writings over the years have become controversial and have drawn the ire of powers that be, but what is not in doubt is his undying love for Nigeria and Nigerians, and his belief in the possibility of a new Nigeria where justice and equity reigns”, he said.
