The Olubara of Ibara, in Ogun State, Oba Olufemi Omolade, has charged those in positions of authority to always prioritise poverty alleviation and empowerment programmes to sustain the welfare of the people.
The monarch gave this charge at his Ibara Palace in Abeokuta during a community empowerment programme organised by the Foursquare Gospel Church, Upper Room Temple, Oke Ilewo, Abeokuta in conjunction with Holu Nikka Foundation and Shalom Megastores
No fewer than 70 indigent youths drawn from different parts of the Ibara communities were supported with various food items during the event.
Oba Omolade, in his remarks, tasked individuals, corporate organisations and religious bodies to invest their resources to alleviate the plights of the people in the state.
The monarch commended the organisers for rising to the responsibility of assisting the people despite the hike in prices of commodities.
He also encouraged citizen to place more value on the demand for good governance rather than the exchange of cash and other items as politicians prepared for the 2023 elections.
In a remark the Minister in charge of the church, Pastor Ayoyinka Akinyosoye, explained that the community empowerment programme was part of the church’s contributions to the society as demonstrated by Jesus Christ.
Akinyosoye gave the assurance that the church would sustain the support for the less-privileged in the society.
He explained that the choice of Ibara for the empowerment was to further consolidate on the peaceful coexistence among residents of the community.
