A real estate construction firm, Mainstone, has said that its new development project – Hussey Bay residential estate, located at the Yaba area of Lagos, will help reduce the housing deficit in the state.
Speaking during the groundbreaking ceremony, Managing Partner at Olawale Jordan, Akin Opatola, said the Hussey Bay project would adhere to best practices in construction, while also providing prospective homeowners full value for their investment.
He said, “What we are trying to do here is have 63 units of high-brow mixed development construction. In terms of quality of finishing, it is going to be quite unique.
“So, Mainstone, the developers, have a track record of amazing developments in Yaba. It is a good thing that my friend, Olawale Jordan, decided to partner with them.
“When we met and engaged with them, we found out that we had similar type of ethics, in terms of design, quality, and finishing. You know we have a challenge in this part of the country, developers don’t finish to specification, they don’t deliver to time.
“So, these are the type of developers we can partner. In that way we can also contribute our own quota to housing delivery in Lagos.”
Also speaking, the lead architect at Mainstone Construction, Gbemileke Peters, said the main focus of the development project were security and homeliness. He added that the project would be delivered in 24 months.
According to him, with the skyrocketing prices of building materials, real estate development today would require skillful improvisation to achieve quality and also save cost.
Peters said, “Basically, what we are trying to achieve is to cater for the diverse needs of people in this area. We have been building in this area for a while. We constrained ourselves for a while to three bedrooms.
“However, the demand changed because we have a lot of students in this area. We have a lot of fresh graduates, newly wedded couples. So we have diverse needs, and because Yaba is strategically located between the Island and the Mainland, we have a wide array of people that have different needs.
“So we came here and decided to build something that caters for a wide array of people as well. What we mean by mixed availability of units is that we have the two-bedroom, the three bedroom and the one bedroom.”
