The family of a 21-year-old Mechanic, Mutardoh Abdulsalam, has been panicking after he went missing on his way to work in the Ginti area of Ijede, Ikorodu, Lagos State.
PUNCH Metro gathered that Mutardoh, who worked as a mechanic at Ginti, Ijede, left his home around 8am but did not return to his family.
Worried by the development, his family members, while searching for his whereabouts, visited his workplace where the victim’s boss and colleagues said Mutardoh never showed up at work.
Mutardoh’s mother, Idayatu, who spoke to our correspondent on Monday, said a cleric informed her that her son had been allegedly kidnapped.
She said, “He told us that morning that he was going to work, he left around 8am and since then we have heard no word from him. He works at Ginti, Ijede, Ikorodu, as a car repairer. I have been everywhere to look for him but did not see him. He doesn’t have a phone so we can’t reach him.
“I reported the situation to the Ijede police station but even the police have no leads. They told us we should look out for anyone who has information on his whereabouts.
“Mutardoh is just 21-year-old, he finished his secondary education but he hasn’t gone to the university yet, he has written JAMB, I really want to see my son.
“Yesterday night, a cleric called me and told me that they saw him being carried away by unknown persons. I don’t know who he is but I pray my son comes back home.”
The distraught mother said life had never been the same since her son went missing, adding that she had been having sleepless nights over the incident.
The victim’s brother, Idris, stated that Mutardoh’s picture had been supplied to the police to aid the search for his whereabouts, adding that the situation was disturbing the family.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, said, “I am not aware of the incident. I don’t have it in my records.”
