A group, Concerned Nigerian Women for Atiku on Wednesday said programmes outlined in the manifesto of the Peoples Democratic Party presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, contained messages of hope for the womenfolk.
This was disclosed by the convener of group, Mrs. Modupeola Adeleke-Sanni, at the inauguration of its Southwest zone.
Adeleke-Sanni, in a statement obtained in Osogbo, while speaking at the inauguration, said gone were the days when women would only be heard, but not seen during the decision-making process.
The statement further read in parts, “Women’s plight are typically regarded as non-consequential to the government. Our women are at the receiving end of bad policy, representation at all levels and even in programmes of past and the present administration.
“Hence assuring them of dividends of democracy as outlined in the manifestos and agenda of His Excellency Alhaji Atiku Abubakar GCON, become a message of hope to all Women in South West region of our nation.”
Also speaking at the launch, the Southwest Coordinator of the group, Hauwa Ahmed, described it as a social-political group for different women that will vote in the forthcoming presidential election.
