The forensic audit report which revealed the alleged pilfering of N11.9bn from the Kwara State Government account is a scam as the audit firm, SSAC and Professional Services, is inactive, the state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party has alleged.
The PDP in a statement by it Publicity Secretary, Tunji Morohunfoye, on Saturday said the party’s enquiry made into the audit firm at the Corporate Affairs Commission revealed that the audit firm hired by the government to do the job was dormant.
“According to the results of our legal query undertaken at the Corporate Affairs Commission, it was discovered that the audit firm; SSAC Advisory and Professional Limited purportedly hired by the APC administration led by Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq is an inactive or dormant firm.
“This is according to a CAC signed report. Simply put, the company has not been making returns, declaring its income or paying any taxes. This is the same firm that the Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq regime purportedly hired to carry out a “forensic audit” for Kwara State.
“It is pertinent to remind Kwarans that an external auditor doesn’t have the legal authority to audit state accounts. Such powers rest with the Kwara State Auditor General who is empowered by law to carry out audits.
“Following the evidence, we hereby put it to the Mal. Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq led APC party regime, that there was no forensic audit carried out between the years 2011-2019 as claimed by the regime, the state PDP said.
Recall that state government recently alleged that about N11.9bn of public funds were stolen from it treasury during the regime of former governor, Abdulfattah Ahmed, between 2011 and 2019.
The state government in a statement signed by Rafiu Ajakaye, Chief Press Secretary to the governor, said that a forensic audit report revealed the alleged fraud amid other mind-boggling revelations of alleged malfeasance within the period of the immediate former administration in the state.
