Members of the Civilian Joint Task Force in Batsari Local Government Area of Katsina State on Sunday repelled an attack on the town by terrorists, killing nine of them.
The civilian task force team also arrested five other terrorists and impounded nine of motorcycles used for the attack.
Although the state police command said it was yet to be officially informed about the incident, sources in the town revealed that the terrorists staged the attack on the town around 4.30 p.m on Sunday shortly after the evening prayers.
The terrorists reportedly stormed the town which is the headquarters of the Local Government Area in no fewer than ten motorcycles.
The civilian task force team was said to have then confronted the terrorists, the development which led to the death of nine of them, arresting five members of the gang and impounding nine of the motorcycles the terrorists used for the operation.
Sources revealed that the situation was still tense in the town as of Monday as members of the civilian task force had reportedly positioned themselves again to ward off any surprise attack by the terrorists.
When contacted, the spokesman for the Katsina police command, SP Gambo Isah said the DPO for the Batsari area was yet to brief the command about the incident.
Isah said, “I will brief you whenever the DPO for the area briefs the command about the incident but for now he has not briefed us.”
