Valentine Ozornwafor has been called-up for Nigeria’s international friendly against Algeria on September 27 in Oran, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
This was confirmed in a statement on his French club Sochaux’s website.
The 23-year-old, who is on a season loan at Sochaux from Turkish club Galatasaray, was drafted in to fill the void left by injured duo Semi Ajayi and Kenneth Omeruo, who have been ruled out of the game.
“Valentine Ozornwafor has been called up to Nigeria’s squad for the upcoming international break,” the statement reads.
“The Sochaux defender is called to join his national team on September 19, with which he currently has three selections.”
Meanwhile, Super Eagles coach, Jose Peseiro, will also be without quintet Victor Osimhen, Sadiq Umar, Jamilu Collins and Akinkunmi Amoo for the friendly due to injuries.
According to reports, Peseiro has been forced to invite several uncapped players for the friendly against Algeria due to injuries to his top stars.
Belgium-based duo Alhassan Yusuf and Raphael Onyedika are reportedly on his squad list for the friendly against the Fennecs.
Both players have been in splendid form for their respective teams Royal Antwerp and Club Brugges.
The former Porto coach is expected to announce his squad for the friendly this week.
