Founders of the Africa Creative Market have said that the initiative will continue to host and provide global opportunities for creatives through various avenues.
The just concluded Africa Creative Market 2022, which was held between August 29 through September 3, 2022, in Lagos, played host to an array of talents drawn across the spectrum of Nigeria’s creative industry.
Speaking during the recently concluded event, the Co-Founder of the ACM, Nicole Ackermann, said the market would “create infrastructures for more musicians, filmmakers, fashion designers, or dancers to have sustainable economic situations while doing their crafts, and living with their unique talents by going global.”
The Chief Executive Officer of High Definition Film Academy, Bright Obasi, kicked off the event with a masterclass for aspiring and established filmmakers.
This was shortly followed by a panel session with Nicole Ackerman and founder of the Africa International Film Festival, Chioma Ude, and renowned filmmaker, Nicole Jefferson.
The Grand Patron of the Africa Creative Market, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, during his speech at the event, said creativity should not be isolated by any means.
Through the ACM, the Ooni of Ife said he would support the development of the creative industry through various internationally agreed joint venture programs under the Africa Creative Network.
The Co-Founder of the ACM, Dr. Inya Lawal, emphasised the importance of understanding one’s value and unique talent.
The Africa Creative Market 2022 event also played host to the bi-annual Women in Film and Television International Summit. The ACM 2022 covered several sectors within the creative industry, with key references to the Film and TV, Music, Dance, Photography and Fashion industries and partners, prominent in their industries who curated experiences and provided numerous opportunities for creatives within each space.
The market featured Pitch Competition, Funding Sessions, Panel Discussions by industry experts, Networking Sessions, Capacity Building / Training Programs by professionals, Fashion EVO – Fashion Show by The YD Company, Dance by Kaffy, MTV Base Spotlight concert with Falz, an Art Exhibition hosted by Lagos Continental Hotel and 543 Luxury Privé and, other activities.
The event also featured the Business of Photography Conference, a platform that brings together creatives within the photography and videography space.
The Africa Creative Market is a brainchild of Dr. Inya Lawal, Bada Akintunde Johnson, and Nicole Ackerman.
