Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has again travelled to London after his media chat on Friday.
Wike was said to have travelled in company of his Benue State counterpart, Samuel Ortom.
Our correspondent gathered that the duo jetted out in a chartered flight from the Port Harcourt International Airport at about midnight of Friday.
Though the reason for the latest departure was unknown, it was gathered that it could be politically related, especially as his recent trips abroad had shown him meeting with some presidential candidates.
A source close to the Rivers State Government House who pleaded anonymity confirmed the development, saying the governor of the crude oil and gas rich state was already in London.
The source said, “Yes, he (Wike) is in London. He went with Ortom.”
Asked if his regular company, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State was part of the trip, he retorted that the latter is believed to be out of the country, but “don’t know his exact location.”
Meanwhile, 24 hours after the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, addressed a televised media chat in Port Harcourt, his media aide, Kelvin Ebiri, has denied reports that the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, offered his principal a senatorial ticket when they met in London, last month.
Some media outfits had reported that the governor said this during the media chat on Friday.
But Ebiri, in a statement on Saturday, said not only were the reports untrue but misleading.
He, however, agreed that Wike did say that he was asked to go pick the ticket for the Red Chamber of the National Assembly, which he declined, pointing out that he neither mentioned Tinubu nor anyone else.
The statement reads in part, “We wish to state emphatically that this news is false, baseless and ludicrous as the Rivers State governor throughout the media chat never mentioned the name of the APC presidential candidate or alluded to him offering him a senatorial ticket.”
