Popular cleric and philanthropist, Apostle Chibuzor Chinyere, has raised the alarm over the antics of criminal elements impersonating him, in an attempt to defraud unsuspecting members of the public.
Apostle Chinyere, the Founder and General Overseer of Omega Power Ministries, Worldwide, based in Port Harcourt, Rivers State said this in a statement issued on Friday.
The statement which was signed by his Special Assistant (Special Duties), Kenneth Nwachi, was made available to our correspondent in Port Harcourt.
Apostle Chinyere said the miscreants were using his name under a fraudulent Facebook account to solicit for funds to support an orphanage, saying he doesn’t run any such home.
The statement read, “It has come to the knowledge of the General Overseer Omega Power Ministries, Apostle Chibuzor Gift Chinyere that scammers and other criminal elements have been impersonating the General Overseer on social media especially Facebook/ Facebook messenger with the criminal intentions to lure, scam and defraud unsuspecting members of the public and deceived them to make donations on non existing orphanage homes.
“The General Overseer Omega Power Ministries Worldwide, Apostle Chibuzor Gift Chinyere and OPM does not operate an orphanage homes.
“Apostle Chinyere run only one verified Facebook account, One official Facebook page and Church official Facebook page
“Apostle Chinyere cannot display his personal phone numbers on Facebook except his office line.
“Apostle Chinyere does not send in box messages or respond to people through inbox on Facebook or message.
“Apostle Chinyere does not chat with you on Facebook. If anyone engage you on chat or pray for you on Facebook, that person is a scammer not Apostle Chibuzor Gift Chinyere
“This number have been used to defraud the public. Don’t respond to the number. Don’t chat with them. They are scammers.”
Continuing, he said, “The General Overseer uses only his verified Facebook account, official Facebook page and Church official Facebook page to inform the church and the General public about his activities.
“This notice becomes very necessary to enlighten the general public not to be deceived and duped by impersonators.”
