Twitter users have congratulated the new President of the Nigerian Football Federation, Ibrahim Gusau. The congratulatory notes did not end for many without tasking Gusau to restore the glory of the NFF.
The PUNCH reported that Gusau, on Friday, emerged the 40th President of the NFF at the 78th Elective Congress in Benin, the Edo State capital.
He polled 21 votes to defeat his closet challenger, Barrister Seyi Akinwunmi, who got 12 votes. The second runner-up, erstwhile League Management Committee Chairman, Shehu Dikko, garnered six votes.
Reacting on Twitter, former Kaduna lawmaker, Senator Shehu Sani, asked Gusau to rescue the Nigerian football. “Congratulations to Ibrahim Gusau, the new @thenffPresident. My expectations from you; Rescue Nigerian football and restore it’s lost glory,” he tweeted on Friday.

Another tweep, @Buchi_Laba, sought equal gender representation in the Nigerian football. He tweeted, “Congratulations to Ibrahim Gusau, the new NFF President. Our Football needs Help. Let the coaches work and don’t give them motivational quotes in the dressing room. Secondly it should be equal pay for both the Men & women team cos they have achieved far more.”
