…They are mischief makers – Ayu media aide
The ongoing rumpus in the Peoples Democratic Party has continued to get sour as members of the party under the Forum of PDP candidates and aspirants passed a vote of no confidence on some national executive of the party, the national chairman, Sen Iyorchia Ayu; national secretary, Sen. Samuel Anyanwu, and deputy national chairman North, Umar Damagum.
The National Executive Committee of the party was also petitioned by the Forum to unanimously demand either the resignation or removal of the national chairman, the deputy national vice-chairman north and the national secretary within 48 hours or they institute a suit against them to show them the way out of their offices.
The resolution of the Forum was taken at the Fraser Hotel, Abuja.
In some of the discussions during the full house meeting, the Forum accused the leadership of the party of extorting many aspirants at the time of the congresses, primaries, and special national convention of the party.
It further stated that at the conclusion of the primaries, there was the substitution of names of candidates with the names of persons that were not successful.
They emphasised that the activities of the party’s leadership greatly attributed to being annulled by courts of law for the governorship primary in Zamfara State and all primaries conducted in Ogun State, stressing that many more are still awaited in court.
Coordinator of the Forum Chris Ogbu, who was flanked by Hon Dauda Yusuf, the forum’s secretary and former governor aspirant, as well as several other members, read the communiqué.
He called on Ayu, Anyanwu, and Damagum to relinquish their positions instantly or be ousted by the party within 48hrs or be ready to defend a suit to be instituted against them starting Wednesday.
They said allotting money paid as nomination fees instead of exploiting it to run the 2023 election of the party was very annoying and eroding the image of the party.
Continuing, they stated that electorates levelled them as a ‘come-and-chop’ or ‘share-the-money party’ and that ousting the national chairman will assist in showing that PDP is now a party that is close-minded to corruption.
They stated that they had previously handed a powerful petition to the party’s NEC and demanded the instant resignation of the mentioned officials.
Responding to the ‘vote of no confidence’ passed on the national chairman, Simon Imobo-Tswam queried if such an organisation exist, adding, “they are what they are, if people say they are engineers, then they are?
“People cannot just come and say something and you quote it. You should ask them when they were formed, who they are, and where their office is.
“They said they are a Forum of aspirants, who are they now, where is their office? You called me for a reaction is it proper, that is mischief. This is not a story. The concept of story reporting is a fair hearing.”
