Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrosheed Akanbi, has said the country should embrace a monarchy system of government and discard democracy that is alien to the culture of Nigerians.
Oluwo spoke in his palace in Iwo on Tuesday, while receiving Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Lekan Balogun, who had paid him a visit.
Oba Akanbi who said kings that have not been servicing their people well should be removed added that people would protect any king seen to be serving them diligently, but would turn against those that were not providing service.
He said, “we have to go back to the traditional government because this current political system of government is not our own.
“It is not the African way of government because African way of government is the traditional way of government and when the kings can thread the path of righteousness and can do what we are doing from here in Iwo, things will be better.
“Our people will fight for us, but nobody will fight for a king that is threatening his own people. People will not fight for a king that is already using his power in a bad way. “
