The Peoples Democratic Party candidate for Ogun Central Senatorial District, Olumide Aderinokun, has hailed Thursday’s Federal High Court judgement affirming his candidacy.
The Federal Court High Court in Abeokuta on Thursday struck out a case challenging Aderinokun’s candidacy as the PDP candidate for the district in the 2023 general elections.
The case filed by an aspirant, Dada Kolawole Oduntan, challenged the primary election that took place at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library on May 23 and prayed to the court to declare him the winner.
Delivering his judgement, the presiding judge of Court 1 in the FHC, Hon. Justice O.O Oguntoyinbo, ruled that the case filed against Aderinokun lacked jurisdiction.
The judge also held that the court processes were not followed and the case was not properly filed as a legal practitioner did not sign it.
Reacting to the judgement in a statement, Aderinokun said, “The judgement is a testament that my ambition is all about the people’s mandate and it can not be tampered with by just an individual.
“I have always believed in the power of a united people and I’m grateful to God that I’m still in this marathon with my people from Ifo, Abeokuta North, Abeokuta South, Odeda, Ewekoro and Obafemi-Owode behind me.
“PDP as a party is clearly unstoppable as one. It is indeed good news that separates us from distractors.”
