The prostate in a man is a part of the male reproductive system and is located just below the bladder and in front of the rectum. It is about the size of a walnut and surrounds the urethra (the tube that empties urine from the bladder). It produces fluid that makes up a part of semen.
However, when cancer starts in the prostate, it is called prostate cancer. This type of cancer is also prevalent amongst African and Nigerian men.
With men dying from this disease in Nigeria, it has become very important that more people become aware of this disease, its effects and management.
Prostrate cancer has a slow progression rate and can be managed.
As a man, have you been screened for the disease? Do you know someone who is impacted or is at risk?
