Midfielder Raphael Onyedika will hope to continue his fine form as Club Brugge travel to Spain to play Atletico Madrid in their return fixture of the Champions League on Wednesday (today).
The 21-year-old was in action as the Belgian champions recorded a shock 2-0 home win at Jan Breydel Stadium in the first leg last week.
The result leaves Carl Hoefkens’s side on top of Group B with nine points from three games, while Spanish giants Atletico are bottom with three points.
Since making his €10m transfer to Brugge, the Nigerian midfielder has been exceptional and manager Carl Hoefken will be banking on him for another brilliant performance on Wednesday.
Brugge have not put a foot wrong in this season’s Champions League, opening their 2022/23 campaign with a 1-0 victory over Bayer Leverkusen, before thumping Porto 4-0 in Portugal a week later.
The Belgians, who are yet to concede a goal in the group stage, have been regulars at this stage of the European Cup in recent years, but they have been unable to make the step into the knockout round.
The Belgian champions will hope to continue their streak of excellent performances in the Champions League.
Atletico will be gunning for revenge against Brugge at the Wanda Metropolitano but a win for the visitors will leave them in a strong position ahead of their final two games against Porto and Bayer Leverkusen.
