Was being a musician a childhood dream?
Yes, music has been a childhood dream. It’s something I have a passion for and it inspires me. Music is more like an antidote to me.
What inspires you?
I get inspired through different means. My inspiration comes from God. This can come either as a message or in a dream. I also get inspiration from my present challenges and difficulties. Sometimes, songs come to me naturally.
What challenges did you face on your way to stardom?
I faced several challenges. Sometimes, some people would contact me but. I later discovered that they only wanted me to warm their beds. Also, some invite me and my team without paying a dime. Ogbogofolemi is a song about God’s mercy. There are many singers better than me but God still brought me this far.
What else do you do apart from music?
I am actually into many things apart from music and that includes beautification, beads and wire works.
Has stardom deprived you of anything?
Yes, stardom has deprived me of several things. I can’t move about freely as before, my mode of dressing, looks and manner of speaking have changed.
Are you still friends with those with you before stardom?
Definitely, I am still friends with many of them because it’s even hard to make friends now that I have attained stardom. I also love to keep my circle small.
How do you handle advances from male fans?
It was hard when I wasn’t married but now it’s easier because my husband is my manager and keyboardist, so he is with me most of the time. I tell those that come directly to me that I am married.
What project are you currently working on?
I am currently working on a praise medley.
What favourite song do you love to perform?
Ogbogofolemi because it is my favourite song and one that brought me to stardom.
What is your advice to up-and-coming musicians?
My advice is simple. Put God first, pray constantly, be consistent and never give up.
