Real Madrid have taken a massive three points from La Liga rivals Barcelona, as they won 3-1 on Sunday in the El Clásico clash.
The win extends Real Madrid’s undefeated streak as they move to the top spot with a three-point advantage over Barcelona, who have suffered their first league defeat this season.
Karim Benzema’s opening goal in the 11th minute was the perfect start to the game for Madrid, as Barcelona struggled to catch on.
Barcelona having had 57 percent of possession, with double Madrid’s shot attempts at 18 to 8, couldn’t still turn the game around. Ferran Torres 83′ goal was the only product of their efforts.
Federico Valverde’s goal, 34′, and Rodrygo’s 90′ penalty, punished Barcelona even further.
On Madrid’s Clásico win, former striker, Los Blancos’ said, “What stuck out to me was the togetherness between the team and the fans. We played as a compact unit when we didn’t have the ball.
“Barcelona’s periods of possession are long, but we closed the spaces, worked hard for each other, and when we had the ball we hurt them on the break. It was a great performance all round.”
