Osun State governor, Adegboyega Oyetola, has sworn in 69 Local Government Area and council chairmen as declared by the state’s Independent Electoral Commission in the elections held last Saturday.
All the candidates were fielded from the All Progressives Congress in the LG poll unopposed, since the party was the only one that participated in the poll.
Performing the swearing in of the elected officials made up of 30 LGA chairmen and 39 council chairmen in Osogbo on Monday, Oyetola charged them to fulfill their campaign promises.
He said, “The swearing in today of the elected chairmen and vice chairmen signalled the end of the service of those appointed into caretaker committees at the local government levels across the State. Government is appreciative of their services to the state.
“The successful and peaceful resolutions of the issues after robust debates and legislation are tributes to the resilience of our people and their readiness to embrace due process and the rule of law, no matter the mileage.
“With the passage of the relevant law and today’s inauguration, Osun is fully back to the Presidential System recognised by the Constitution of the nation and its benefits at the Council level.”
