The Traditional Council of Chiefs of Egbema Kingdom in the Niger Delta region comprising Warri North of Delta State and Ovia South-West of Edo State, has announced a king-designate for the community.
The king-designate is His Majesty, Napoleon Egin, the Beni-Pere lV, the Agadagba of Egbema Kingdom.
Disclosing this to journalists in Warri on Wednesday, one of the kingmakers, the Obuoyimi of Egbema Kingdom, Chief Igbiriki, affirmed that “the proclamation which was done by the eldest-man of Ofunama community, Pa Abudu Poweide, in the administrative headquarters of Egbema Kingdom was endorsed by the traditional council of chiefs as in line with the gazette of the kingdom.”
The PUNCH gathered that the proclamation and endorsement “came after the presentation of six names to the traditional council of chiefs by Igbudugbudu at the royal house on October 1, 2022.”
It was gathered that the kingmakers had converged on Monday at Ofunama, the oldest community and administrative headquarters of the kingdom, to make the pronouncement.
The kingmakers who presided over the process were listed as the Toripuwei of Egbema Kingdom, Chief David Bubor; the Obuoyim of Egbema Kingdom, Chief W.E Igbiriki; the Funpuwei of Egbema Kingdom, Chief Joseph Owilly; the Perekoriwei of Egbema Kingdom, Chief Simon Igbetikuru; Ibe-Egbewei of Egbema Kingdom, Chief Ebi Eyenmi; the Torinwei of Egbema Kingdom, Chief Israel Agadigha; the Ebetaribolouwei of Egbema kingdom, Chief Linus Oroupa and the Odimiwei of Egbema Kingdom Chief Ojugbami Ala.
Others were the Banawei of Egbema Kingdom, Chief Fidisegha Joseph; Tubinghawei of Egbema Kingdom, Chief Dighijor Raphael; the Aberewei of Abere of Egbema Kingdom, Chief Gas Marroh; Chief Kehinde Somoh; Chief L.E Tiemo; Chief Festus Oduwan and the Peremieyegha of Egbema Kingdom, Chief Ikantu.
The Obuoyimi of Egbema kingdom, Chief Igbiriki, told journalists that “the coronation date would be announced in due time.”
