The Taraba State chapter of the Peoples Redemption Party, on Wednesday, debunked the claim made by the spokesperson of the Peoples Democratic Party, Emmanuel Bello, that PRP’s governorship candidate has joined PDP.
This is contained in a press release signed by the chairman of PRP in the state, Abdullahi Maikusuwa, and made available to journalists in Jalingo.
Describing the statement by Emmanuel Bello as tales by the moonlight, the PRP chairman said the statement was not only false and outlandish but a provocation that is actionable under the electoral law.
The statement read partly, “Emmanuel Bello has been given a brief to target the PRP seeing that the party is making great strides in the minds of the people of Taraba, especially in the southern zone of the state where the PDP’s years of misrule had rendered it unpopular among the people.
“The PDP years of misrule especially under the maladministration of incumbent Governor Darius Ishaku is facing imminent rejection by Tarabans as deserved punishment for its ‘criminal’ neglect of the people of the state.
“In his dark endeavour, Emmanuel Bello is targeting PRP because the PDP which he represents now senses that the people of Taraba State are trooping to the PRP, the party known for its defence of the downtrodden, as an alternative to the PDP.
“PRP can never in a million years join the PDP. While the PDP stands for oppression and denial of the rights and entitlement of the people of Taraba, the PRP on the other hand stands with Tarabans in their demands for good governance and dividends of democracy,” the statement read.
But in a swift reaction, Emmanuel Bello, described Abdullahi Maikasua as a factional leader of PRP in the state, insisting that the authentic chairman of PRP in the state, Kabiru Mohammed, led his exco recently to the PDP secretariat where they collapsed their structure into PDP.
