The National Directorate of Employment, on Tuesday, commenced the training of youths in waste management skills under the Basic Business Training in Taraba State.
The state programme coordinator, Danjuma Shehu, said the four days of training for 30 youths in waste recycling was aimed at reducing unemployment, promoting a healthy and hygienic environment, and wealth creation.
Shehu noted that the Basic Business Training was designed to assist informal sector operators in understanding the basic principles of good business management in simple and practical ways.
He told the participants, “The manual given to you is to focus attention on the problems faced by operators in managing their businesses for survival and growth. The manual is to encourage you to apply management principles in your business.
“It is to also enable you increase the profitability in your business through proper record keeping, increase sales, and reduce operational cost.
Director-General of the agency, Abubakar Fikpo, represented by the Director of Special Public Works in the agency, Mr. Idris Mahmud, appreciated the turn-up of participants for the training.
Fikpo said the training was deserving for every young Nigerian as it was targeted at improving the living condition of unemployed youth through waste resources management and improving sanitation for a good and hygienic environment.
