The convener of Culturati, Idris Aregbe, has disclosed that culture can drive Africa’s development and bring about desired positive changes if well exploited.
To achieve this, Aregbe said, culture stakeholders must work in unison to explore avenues where African culture can considerably drive social and technological changes in the millennium.
In a statement on Wednesday, he said culture has transformed entire societies and strengthened local communities across the world.
According to him, culture is important in promoting sustainable social and economic development for future generations.
Aregbe added that with the uniqueness of African culture, stakeholders must utilise it as key to driving the continent’s development in the millennium.
“Culture is important in promoting sustainable social and economic development for future generations as a vector for youth development and civic engagement,” he said.
Aregbe also explained that plans have been concluded for Culturati 2022, adding that this year’s symposium will hold on November 10, 2022, at the Afe Babalola Auditorium, University of Lagos, with notable speakers to discuss critical issues.
“Culturati symposium will integrate youths into the culture and explore it as a tool to drive social, technological and economic innovation.
“Youth stands as a bridge between cultures and serves as key agents in the promotion of peace and intercultural understanding,” Aregbe said.
According to him, the symposium will see the older generation rub minds with the young in a cultural bond hoped to be sustained in the light of exploring opportunities.
“Opportunities for mentoring and intercultural dialogue in the creative industries will avail creative development of young people while promoting intercultural understanding, respect for cultural diversity and the creation of an environment subservient to peace and unity,” Aregbe said.
Expected at the grand finale ofCulturati 2022 themed “Harnessing African Culture for Capacity Building, Leadership and Economic Development” are royal fathers, the diplomatic community, industry captains, business moguls, stakeholders in tourism, the crème of the entertainment sector among others.
