Nigerian winger, Chidera Ejuke will seek to end his 16-game goals drought when Hertha Berlin travel to the Weserstadion to face Werder Bremen in a Bundesliga fixture on Friday (today), PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
He scored his last goal – a match winner in the colours of CSKA Moscow in their 1-0 win over Dinamo Moscow in April.
Ejuke, who joined Hertha Berlin on loan from CSKA Moscow in the summer, has featured 11 times in the Bundesliga without scoring a goal but the 24-year-old presently has the seventh-most assist in the league this term.
Hertha, meanwhile, moved three points clear of the relegation zone after recording their second league win of the season last time out against FC Schalke 04.
Sandro Schwarz coach of Hertha has urged his team to defend aggressively against their host.
“We’re expecting a brilliant atmosphere and a hard-fought game under the floodlights, which we’re looking forward to,” Schwarz said in a pre-match interview.
“Werder play with a similar philosophy to Schalke – they defend aggressively, man-to-man, but they can also play well on the ball.
“They are composed, have good plans both in and out of possession, play with a lot of structure and always have threat in front of goal. They’ve done very well as a promoted side. For us, it’s about working on all of those things and our ideas, as well as bringing intensity to the pitch.”
