Confluence Star, D.Defenders and Seasiders Babes all emerged winners on Thursday at the Prudent Energy Premier Handball League at the sports hall of the University of Lagos, Akoka.
Playing against Tojemarine, Confluence Stars won 28-27. It was a keenly-contested game that could have gone either way, but the Stars stayed strong to the end to beat the Lagos side.
D.Defenders compounded the woes of Owena Kings with another defeat with a 24-18 win. Owena kings are yet to record a win in the second phase of the league.
In the women’s category, Seasiders Babes beat Bendel Dynamos 26-23. The Benin team seem to have lost steam and are losing ground on the leading teams. Also, three games were decided by walkovers – Defender Babes, Benue Queens and Niger United walked over Kada Queens, Adorable Angels and Kada Stars respectively.
On Friday (today), Tojemarine take on Rima Academy, Niger United battle D.Defenders, Safety Shooters lock horns with Benue Buffalos, Owena Kings play Kada Stars, Lagos Seasiders battle Police Machine, while Confluence Stars take on Kano Pillars.
It will be a rest day for the women’s teams on Friday as they resume play on Saturday.
