Former Italian striker Salvatore Bagni has praised Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen for his superb performance in Napoli’s 1-0 win over Roma on Sunday.
The Nigerian striker just returned to the Napoli squad two weeks ago in their 4-2 victory against Ajax, where he also registered a goal despite playing 45 minutes on the field.
His powerful late strike against Roma sealed the victory for the Naples side.
In the build-up to the goal, the Nigeria international exhibited pace and physical strength to beat Chris Smalling before he fired past Rui Patricio, in goal for Roma.
Bagni was impressed with Osimhen’s display and ranks the Nigerian striker ahead of other strikers in Napoli.
“Osimhen has improved for me in managing the 90 minutes,” Bagni told Napoli Magazine.
“Victor is not just depth and he is not just speed. The goal against Roma can only do it to Osimhen.
“There Victor steals Smalling’s time and neither Raspadori nor Simeone can do that, then for me, that shot is all instinct.”
Napoli are having a smooth run and top the Serie A table with 29 points from 11 matches and have not lost a match in the 2022/23 season.
Osimhen who rakes in four goals from seven appearances for Raspadori has attracted interest from clubs in England and will hope to build on his form.
