Luck is finally smiling on the victims affected by the flood that has suddenly hit about 33 out of 36 states in Nigeria.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry, and Meghan Markle Foundation has donated an unspecified amount to charity bodies working in Nigeria for devastated victims affected by the flood.
Sky News, in a press release, confirmed that the Archewell Foundation had made donations to both UNICEF and Save the Children.
The spokesperson said recounts that the generous donations would “help provide relief following devastating floods wreaking havoc in Nigeria”.
Reports have had it that so far, the flood has displaced about 1.3 million people, killing over 600, and injuring more than 2,400.
GISTLOVER earlier reported that the Buhari-led federal government has stated that the flood disaster which has led to the loss of lives and livelihood can only be curtailed with consistent investments that would span for 30 years, The Nation reports.
Adamu, who noted that the investments that would prevent floods are not achievable under one administration, also stated that floods cannot be prevented but can only be minimized by the government.
He further revealed that the present administration is already working on a flood management masterplan that will take at least three years to complete.
The Minister who alleged that many flood victims ignored warnings to evacuate, also blamed tree felling and degraded soil for the massive impact of this year’s floods in the country.
