Mrs Oyetola, who was joined at the unveiling ceremony of the group in Osogbo, by the wife of the immediate past governor of Oyo State, Mrs Florence Ajimobi, in her remarks said, ‘Akoni Obinrin’ was put together to enhance women’s participation in Osun politics.
She charged members of the group to embark on house to house campaign across the state to gather support for Tinubu’s presidential ambition.
She said, “Our current focus in Akoni Obinrin is to mobilize, in an unprecedented manner for the victory of the APC Presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and the other candidates of the All Progressive Congress in the 2023 elections.
“Let us rise again and bring up that country we all yearn for. Let’s renew the hope in our children. Your engagements led to the unprecedented increase in the number of voters that turned out in the last election in the state. We can do this again. We must get into each house in this state and get every eligible voter to come out and do the needful.
“Let us mobilize every vote for the people that know the way, starting with Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and all the way to every contestant on the platform of the All Progressive Congress. Like the saying goes, all politics are local. Let us play it real local.”
Speaking on the theme, ‘Braving the odds to make a difference,’ Mrs Ajimobi observed myriads of challenges confronting women and commended them for confronting all odds to survive in a harsh environment.
In his goodwill message, Osun State Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola, said ‘Akoni Obinrin Osun’ group represents the resoluteness and character of Osun that deliver excellence on critical fronts, including security, peace, economy and health.
He then urged women in the state to encourage members of their families to register, collect their voter’s cards and vote for APC candidates in the next general elections.
