Onyiriuka said this while speaking with journalists during the Iri Ji Ohaji 2022 cultural festival (yam festival), which held at the Ohaji District Headquarters, Umuokanne, on Saturday, a statement by his media aide, Ikenna Orioha, disclosed.
The assembly candidate said it was important the community sustained the cultural heritage so as to engender even development and harmonious relationship among the people.
The festival which had the Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, as the chief guest of honour, was themed, Idi N’otu Na Oganihu, which is interpreted; Unity and Progress of Ohaji.
Onyiriuka said the yam festival propagates unity, love, peace and cordiality among the people and is also an opportunity for the people to brainstorm on positive ways forward for the people.
He said, “I and my supporters are happy to have graced the 2023 Iri Ji cultural festival of Ohaji. We are also joyous that the festival is attended by people from far and near including the Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, his deputy, Prof. Placid Njoku, Speaker of Imo Assembly, Emeka Nduka, Chairman, Imo State Council of Traditional Rulers, HRH Eze E.C Okeke and Minister of Education (State), Rt. Hon. Goodluck Opiah.”
Onyiriuka however urged the state government to address the issues of flooding, bad roads, unemployment among others, adding that he would facilitate development in the LGA if elected in the forthcoming 2023 elections.
He said, “I also use this medium to ask government to urgently address the issues of flooding, deplorable roads, lack of electricity, poor healthcare delivery, unemployment among other needs debilitating the people who produce the wealth of Imo State.
