Two persons who got injured in a fire incident were on Thursday rescued by the Kwara State Fire Service after a fire broke out from a gas delivery truck in Ilorin.
According to the fire service, the incident occurred at Grace Gas Plant Station, Ita-Elepa Junction, off Asa-Dam road in the Ilorin West Local Government Area of the state.
An eyewitness said that fire from a gas delivery truck parked at the gas station spread to an adjourning bungalow and burnt the building. The eyewitness added that two males were injured in the inferno.
The Head, Media and Publicity of the state fire service, Hassan Adekunle, who confirmed the incident in a statement on Thursday, said that the quick intervention of the fire-fighters saved the plant from exploding.
Adekunle said that the two men injured in the inferno had been taken to a public health facility for treatment.
The statement read in part, “The Kwara State Fire Service on November 3, 2022, saved 30 tons of cooking gas inside its tank from exploding. This happened during a fire outbreak at Grace Gas Plant Station situated at Ita-Elepa Junction, Off Asa-Dam Road in the Ilorin West Local Government Area of the state.
“An eyewitness of the incident confirmed to firemen that the fire erupted from the damaged gas delivery truck parked inside the gas station. The man also added that two men sustained injury from the inferno. Though firemen were able to save the gas plant from exploding, a nearby three-bedroom to the gas plant was affected by the inferno.’’
