A statement made available to The PUNCH on Sunday said Power Oil and the Indomie noodles visited the camps occupied by displaced victims of the Lokoja flood, and donated relief materials to help cushion the effect of the disaster.
This humanitarian exercise was carried out with the support of the wife of the Inspector General of Police, Hajara Baba, and the First Lady of Kogi State, Rashida Bello.
The items donated include food items such as Power Oil, pure vegetable cooking oil, Indomie Noodles, Dano Milk, Kellogg’s Cereal, Good life fruit drinks; Body and Feminine Care products such as Kotex Sanitary Towels, Irish Spring Bath soap, Colgate toothpaste, toothbrushes and other necessities like mattresses, T-shirts, and Hypo bleach.
The Brand Manager, Power Oil, Valerie Amakulor, said the flood had rendered many homeless and helpless without any hope of survival.
She said, “We grieve with everyone who has suffered terrible losses as a result of this disaster. And we have the greatest respect for the efforts of the state government and security personnel in trying to ensure normalcy is restored which we all understand may take a while.”
Amakulor stated that the brand was built to show and spread love to those in need of it, especially in times of crises like this.
She also pleaded with other private and corporate bodies to show love and reach out to the displaced flood victims.
She said, “Coming together to act in times of crisis is a clear reflection of our company’s purpose to spread love to others and make a difference.
“As brands, we are humbled to have touched the lives of the flood victims in Kogi State and say to everyone else to please listen to your heart and show some love.”
