Hoopers made the announcement on their official Facebook account on Monday.
The KingsMen last played in a competitive game on February 5 when they won the Crown Elite Championship in Lagos and are willing to add to their laurel hence the signing of the experienced centre.
Obekpa, 28, is one of the most prolific shot blockers in the country and his quality will help the Ogoh Odaudu-led side at the competition which begins today.
A six-foot-nine centre from Makurdi, Nigeria, Obekpa has been consistent during his appearances in the Basketball Africa League.
Prior to returning to Africa this year, Obekpa last played full-time in Turkey in the 2017-18 season, thanks in large part to injuries. During his time with Trabzonspor, the now 28-year-old averaged 8.5 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 2.5 blocks per game in 24 outings in the Basketbol Süper Ligi.
Upon turning pro back in 2016, Obekpa signed with the Golden State Warriors and was assigned to the team’s G League affiliate, the Santa Cruz Warriors. In 29 G League contests with Santa Cruz, he averaged 5.2 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.2 blocks per game.
