The National Youth Service Corps Director General, Brigadier General Muhammed Fada, on Tuesday charged corps members to imbibe the culture of working together in an atmosphere filled with friendship, peace, harmony and shared vision of a great prosperous Nigeria.
Fadah, who said that the NYSC scheme was to broader the corps members’ understanding of the country, charged them to imbibe the culture of promoting the positive values of the country with a view to contributing to the country’s greatness and development.
The DG, represented by the NYSC Ekiti State Coordinator, Mrs Mary Chikezie, spoke at the swearing-in ceremony of the 2022 Batch ‘B’ Stream 1 comprising 1,402 corps members at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Ise-Orun/Emure Ekiti State.
He said, “I also urge you to avoid using social media for spreading fake news, fueling hatred and other negative purposes but instead, deploy the same for the promotion of national unity and development.”
“You are also enjoined to familiarize yourselves with the provisions of the NYSC Act and the NYSC bye-laws. I implore you to sustain a high level of discipline and enthusiasm by remaining compliant with the camp rules and regulations.
“Your deployment away from your states of origin and assemblage here from diverse ethnic, religious and socio-economic backgrounds will not only offer you the opportunity for a broader understanding of the country but also entrench the culture of working together in an atmosphere filled with friendship, peace, harmony,” the NYSC boss said.
