Lionel Messi, the Argentina captain, has talked about the highly anticipated World Cup.
He explained that his team needs to be ‘strong and united’ if they are to perform well and win the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
Messi also compared the current Argentina squad to the 2014 squad, which lost to Germany narrowly in the final.
Speaking to Ole, the Paris Saint-Germain forward said, “At the 2014 World Cup, we performed very well. It was an unforgettable experience.
“I enjoyed it a lot and it became clear to me more than ever that the main and most important thing is to be a strong and united group.
“That ultimately leads you to the important goal. Today I feel a lot of similarities between this group and the one from 2014.”
Argentina are among the favourites heading into the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
La Albiceleste are in Group C at the World Cup alongside Poland, Saudi Arabia and Mexico.
