It looks like the perceived feud between the Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo; and the Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu; and the Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, has been quashed, as the trio were seen in a jovial mood at the funeral of the mother of Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu.
Recall that Tinubu and Osinbajo both contested the presidential primary of the APC. This made many of Tinubu’s supporters to describe Osinbajo as a betrayer, because the former was said to have nominated him to be the VP to the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.). It was also believed that Tinubu was not pleased with Abiodun because he was said to have supported Osinbajo, in the lead up to the primary.
At the funeral held at St. Andrew’s Cathedral Church Owo, Ondo State, Osibanjo, who wore a white agbada (flowing robe) was captured smiling with Tinubu, Abiodun, and the immediate past Governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi.
Some guests at the event could be overheard commenting on the cheerful comportment of the political heavyweights towards one another, even as they advised supporters of politicians not to fight one another over their principals.
Dignitaries at the event include the Ekiti State Governor, Abiodun Oyebamiji; governors of Lagos and Osun states, Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Adegboyega Oyetola, respectively; the Minister of State for Science and Technology, Senator Olorunnimbe Mamora; and members of the Ondo State House of Assembly, led by the speaker, Bamidele Oleyelogun; a former Ondo State Governor, Olusegun Mimiko; Bisi Akande, and Senator Ibikunle Amosun.
