Two yet-to-be-identified persons lost their lives when a vehicle in the convoy of the Commissioner, Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Bauchi State, Nuhu Zaki, collided with a motorcycle on Wednesday.
One other victim sustained a fracture in the crash that occurred around 2.25pm, at Miya town, along Miya-Warji, in the Warji Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
The Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corp, Bauchi State Command, Yusuf Abdullahi, confirmed the incident on Thursday.
He said the government vehicle, a White Toyota Hilux with number plate: BA18 A08 collided with a commercial Bajaj Boxer motorcycle ridden by one Muhammad Muawuya.
Abdullahi said, “There was a multiple fatal crash yesterday, November 16, 2022, around 2.45pm, involving a government vehicle and a commercial motorcycle.
“The government vehicle is a White Toyota Hilux with number plate: BA18 A08 which collided with a commercial Bajaj Boxer motorcycle ridden by one Muhammad Muawuya.
“The crash was caused by speed violation which resulted in a loss of control and subsequently, a collision between the vehicle and the motorcycle at Miya town along Miya-Warji route, involving five male adults.
“The two people that died were on the motorcycle and were knocked down by a vehicle in the entourage of the Commissioner, Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Nuhu Zaki. They (victims) were rushed to the Kafin Madaki General Hospital by the commissioner for treatment and confirmation.
“It was in the hospital that a medical doctor confirmed two people dead. One other person sustained bruises and a fracture.”
The FRSC boss appealed to the public to obey road traffic regulations in the state.
