The Ondo State Police Command on Monday confirmed the abduction of a former Senior Special Assistant to Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, Richard Omosehin.
PUNCH Metro gathered that the former aide to the state governor was at his residence in Igbekebo, in the Ese Odo Local Government Area of the state when the kidnappers stormed the premises on Saturday.
According to a source, the kidnappers, numbering about six, came to the community on a speed boat, went to Omosehin’s private house from where he was dragged into the boat and fled.
The source said, “The incident happened around 2am on Saturday. Immediately, people invited the police but by the time the policemen arrived, the kidnappers had taken the man (Omosehin) away.”
Confirming the abduction, the monarch of Igbekebo town, Oba Simon Dabo, while speaking on a radio programme, said Omosehin was allowed to call his wife from the den of the kidnappers.
He noted that the suspects had demanded N100m for his release.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Funmilayo Odunlami, said, “We are already making efforts to rescue the victim; an investigation has begun.”
