The Delta State Commissioner for Girl Child Entrepreneurship and Development, Mrs Nkechi Enumah-Chukura, has appealed to well-meaning Nigerians to donate to the course of rehabilitating victims of the recent floods that ravaged the country.
Enumah-Chukura, who doubles as the leader of the South-South geopolitical zone of the Atiku Support Organisation, made this known when she and other members of her group visited some riverine communities in the Ndokwa-East Local Government Area where food items and cash were donated to the victims.
Nkechi, was quoted in a statement by the Publicity Secretary of the Atiku Support Organisation, Victor Moses, as having visited seven communities, including Akarai-Obodo, Umuti, Iyowu, Okpokrika and Afiankwo where she donated 100 cartoons of noodles, 30 bags of 50kg beans, four bags of onions and some cash.
The statement quoted her as saying, “While we immensely appreciate the governor of Delta State, Ifeanyi Okowa, we called on well-meaning and good-spirited Nigerians to reach out to flood victims as the government needs private individuals and corporate bodies’ intervention to ameliorate the effects of the flood disaster on victims.”
