Three abducted victims comprising two teachers and a nurse on Wednesday regained their freedom from kidnappers after paying ransom.
PUNCH Metro gathered that the victims were abducted along Irele – Oke Ako Road, in the Ajoni Local Council Development Area on Monday.
A source in the area told our correspondent that the principal of a secondary school in the area, who was kidnapped alongside the three victims, escaped when the kidnappers fell asleep.
The source said one of the captured teachers, while attempting to escape from the kidnappers in a similar manner as the principal, was recaptured and made to pay ransom before he and the other two victims were released.
A community source said two suspects were arrested shortly after the victims regained freedom.
The Chairman of Ajoni LCDA, Michael Ogungbemi, who corroborated the source, said, “The JTF succeeded in apprehending two suspects, who are now undergoing interrogation by the police. They were nabbed inside the sprawling forest at Irele – Kogi border area.
The Commandant, Ekiti State Amotekun Corps, Brig Gen. Joe Komolafe (retd), also confirmed the arrest.
“I can confirm to you that two suspects arrested are being held by the police. Regarding the freed victims, they were initially taken to the hospital, but they have reunited with their respective families,” he stated.
